Runescape Vs. World of Warcraft; The Eternal Conflict

You have probably all heard of the ongoing debate over which of the two most well known and played games on the internet; Runescape and World of Warcraft. And, considering the fact that you have chosen to read ths article, you have probably chosen one over the other. I have played both of them for some time now, so I can give the point of view from someone without bias. So without further ado, I present the end to the eternal conflict (yes I know that statement didn’t make much sense)!

There are seven different topics involved in this comparison;

Graphics
Costs
Team-play
Activity
Problems/support
Leveling
Other

Graphics
Runescape has the best graphics possible, for a browser-based game. This means that even after the huge update a while ago, they are still lacking. WoW, on the other hand, Is a stand-alone platform and therefore has graphics that are better than that of Runescape. This isn’t opinion, It is fact, and if you have ever played both of them, you would agree.

Winner: WoW

Costs
This is actually a more complicated answer than you might think. WoW costs $15 a month, and Runescape costs $5 a month (okay keep reading, that’s not the complicated part). However, you only get one character in Runescape, and you can have up to 50 in Warcraft. But this doesnt change the facts, so…

Winner: Runescape

Team-Play
You can complete almost all of both games flying solo, but it cam be much easier and funner to play with others. There are team games in both, but WoW has more and larger ones. You can actually level completely, only by completing dungeons (team areas) in WoW. there isnt anything like this in Runescape, although it has more team mini-games like Clan Wars.

Winner: WoW

Activity
There is an amazing amount to do in both games. In WoW, you have Dungeons, Battlefields, and of course the seemingly infinite number of quests. In Runescape, you have numerous minigames, the Wilderness, and hundreds of quests that are more in-depth than those of WoW.

Winner: Runescape

Problems/Support
Both games have great support systems, but the amount they need to be used is what is really important. For example, if a game had a terrible support system, but no errors or problems, it would win over other games. Being a stand-alone platform game, Wow experiences MANY more problems than Runescape. There is also monthly patches, where the game is down for hours. Runescape often has problems, but not nearly as many as WoW. being a more expensive game, Warcraft also has more hackers and account thiefs.

Winner: Runescape

Leveling
Runescape has many more skills to level than WoW, and this helps get rid of monotonous grinding. You are often leveling one skill at a time, so this quantity doesn’t really help. World of Warcraft, on the other hand, has three main, different options for leveling. You could grind, fighting beast after beast, which usually isnt themethod of choice. There is also the option of doing quests, which is the most widely used and interesting one. Then, there is dungeons and raids, where, with a group, you kill every enemy and beast in a specified area for man rewards.

Winner: WoW

Other Levels
Last but not least, we have other levels and skills. In WoW, there are professions, talents and class skills. Talents and class skills are unique to WoW, and they can define your experience. Professions are also very fun, especially engineering, which allows you to copy the skills of other classes. This brings us to the point that you can never have al the skills in WoW, because you can only choose a single class. In runescape, however you have over 20 non-combat skills, each with its own benefits. Some of them, such as Construction and Summoning, can really make your experience more enjoyable.

Winner: Runescape

Yes, the overall winner is Runescape. So next time you are in an argument over which is better, you are free to use my points. However, different people weigh each of these categories differently, so this shouldnt be taken as saying that everyone should stop playing WoW and play Runescape. As I said before, I have played and enjoyed both games.
